The Ancient of Days
He sat. His garment was white. His throne was fire. And everything was brought before Him.
The thrones came first.
I beheld till the thrones were cast down.
Not destroyed. Set in place. The Aramaic word means placed — the thrones of judgment were positioned.
Then the Ancient of days did sit.
Whose garment was white as snow.
The hair of his head like the pure wool.
His throne like the fiery flame.
His wheels as burning fire.
A fiery stream issued and came forth from before him.
Thousand thousands ministered unto him.
Ten thousand times ten thousand stood before him.
A court of a scale that no human assembly had ever approached.
The judgment was set.
And the books were opened.
Not one book. Books.
Every record accessible. Every word, every deed, every life, every nation.
The fourth beast — the dreadful beast with the iron teeth and the little horn speaking great things — was slain.
Its body destroyed and given to the burning flame.
The other beasts had their dominions taken away. They were given a season and a time.
But the fourth beast was ended.
And then, after the throne and the fire and the slain beast, Daniel saw something approaching.
One like the Son of man came with the clouds of heaven.
Came to the Ancient of days. Was brought near before him.
And there was given him dominion, and glory, and a kingdom.
That all people, nations, and languages, should serve him.
His dominion is an everlasting dominion, which shall not pass away.
His kingdom that which shall not be destroyed.
Daniel stood in a night vision watching the transfer of all authority.
From every beast, every empire, every human system.
To the Son of man.
Standing before the Ancient of days.
Receiving what was always His.
Scripture — Daniel 7:9
"I beheld till the thrones were cast down, and the Ancient of days did sit, whose garment was white as snow, and the hair of his head like the pure wool: his throne was like the fiery flame, and his wheels as burning fire."
Reflection
The Ancient of Days is not elderly. He is eternal. His whiteness is not age — it is purity without beginning.
The court that opens in Daniel's vision is the ultimate courtroom. Everything in human history has been moving toward this session.
