The Ram and the Vision

Daniel saw what was coming. It made him sick for days.

📖Based on Daniel 8:3

He was standing by the river Ulai when he saw it.

A ram with two horns. One horn taller than the other, the taller one coming up last.

It charged westward. And northward. And southward.

No beast could stand against it. None could deliver from its hand.

It did according to its will and became great.

Then from the west came the goat.

Moving across the face of the whole earth, not even touching the ground.

A notable horn between its eyes.

The goat struck the ram. Broke both its horns. Threw it down. Trampled it.

No power in the ram to stand.

The goat became very great.

But when it was strong, the great horn was broken. And four notable ones grew in its place.

From one of them came a little horn, which grew exceeding great.

It cast truth down to the ground. It prospered and practiced and destroyed the mighty and the holy people.

Gabriel came to explain it.

The vision was about the time of the end.

Two thousand three hundred days. Then the sanctuary would be cleansed.

The precision of it was what destroyed Daniel.

He heard the numbers. He understood what the visions meant for the people he loved.

He fainted. Was sick for certain days.

Then he rose and went about the king's business.

Because that is what you do when you have seen the truth.

You absorb the weight of it.

And then you get up and keep going.

Scripture — Daniel 8:3

"Then I lifted up mine eyes, and saw, and, behold, there stood before the river a ram which had two horns: and the two horns were high; but one was higher than the other, and the higher came up last."

Reflection

Biblical prophecy is precise. It names nations, timelines, and specific patterns centuries in advance.

›

The weight of knowing the future is not freedom from it. It is preparation for it.
